There are several reasons why someone’s self-esteem may suffer. A few common causes include negative confessions made into a person’s life, scathing criticisms, and rejection. Despite the reasons, God is the ultimate judge (1 Corinthians 4:4-5). His opinion of us is more important than any social criticism we receive. Rejection hurts and can be a rather unpleasant experience (John 15:18), but we are more than overcomers through Christ. We must remember that God cares about us, and he accepts us (Psalm 94:14). We should avoid putting ourselves down because the Lord has wonderfully made us. He defines our worth, and in Him, we are secure (1 Corinthians 15:10).
Pray about It
If you believe your self-esteem is dropping, you need to pray for the Lord to restore your self-confidence (Hebrews 10:35) and worth. God loves you, and your self-worth does not come from people but the Lord.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. – Psalm 139:14 (ESV)
