The common remark “You look like you have the weight of the world on your shoulders” is how it may feel to be burdened with iniquities. Living in sin and giving in to the desires of the flesh becomes overwhelming and causes entrapment (Hebrews 12:1). It also leads to guilt and shame, which may be reflected in our mannerisms. Do we want to bear this burden, or should we confess our sins to the Lord and turn away from them? When we choose the latter, it will lift the burdens, and we can continue with our life’s journey without being weighed down. As believers, we need not bear the heavy burden of sin because our faithful God can forgive us and cleanse us from unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).
