Technological advancements such as digital media may attempt to make things more manageable, and thereby facilitate happiness. It is assumable that such convenience would make life easier and likewise enjoyable, but is this true?
Joy does not originate from having convenience or from being able to connect. The Christian life is not absent from trials and tribulations, which can regrettably shift one’s focus and cause unhappiness. Only the Lord can inspire joy amid hardships. During busy lifestyles, we need to make time for the Lord. As we seek God, He will give us His great joy. We can rest in His presence with the assurance He will meet our needs, aid us in enduring and overcoming trials, and give us more than we can imagine (Ephesians 3:20). Technology is useful on many levels, and friendships are important, but we must be careful that neither replace our relationship with the Lord.
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us. – Ephesians 3:20 (ESV)
