We can be hopeful in any situation encountered because we serve a God of hope (Romans 12:12). He can fill us with joy and peace, thus enabling the power of the Holy Spirit to cause us to abound in hope.
According to the scriptures, hope is an anchor to the soul. An anchor is attached to a chain or rope and connects a vessel to the sea bottom. Its purpose is to stop the ship or boat from drifting due to extreme weather conditions. Similarly, when we experience difficulties that have the potential to lead us astray and make us unsteady, hope can provide an anchor that keeps our soul stable (Hebrews 6:18-19).
As we believe in the promises that God has made to us (Psalm 27:13-14) and take hold of the hope that God provides, we can stand firm despite the outlook of the situation to the natural eye. The trust we have in God will never disappoint because He can make everything work together for our good (Romans 8:28).
