Why do scriptures encourage us to pray and meditate on God’s Word? Because to pray and study the Word may establish the tone for our day. It can help us remain on track in our Christian walk. Prayer involves communication between ourselves and the Lord, and dialogue is essential to receive God’s guidance. Meditating on the Word is not just a daily routine of reading Bible verses without understanding or application. Instead, it is a significant opportunity to focus on the Word of God and commune with the Lord.
Many sources can lead the believer amiss, but when we choose to read the scriptures and pray, our minds can be enlightened and renewed (Romans 12:2). Thoughts can influence our actions and temperament, so when we keep ours centered on God, He will give us perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3). Believers are living in times of global pandemic, which makes it even more important to focus on God instead of tribulation.
