Joseph had a great dream that the sun, moon and eleven stars would bow down to him and he relayed this to his brothers (Genesis 37:9). Despite this incredible revelation, he experienced much suffering in his life. His brothers envied him, and he eventually was thrown into an empty pit, sold into slavery, taken to a foreign land and later unfairly imprisoned. During troubling times, his visions seemed far from reality, but God was faithful. God supported Joseph, and after years of difficulties, he was appointed as the ruler of Egypt. Although this promotion took time, it was higher than anyone could imagine. He was used powerfully by the Lord to save many lives including his family members.
When God gives us a vision, we need the patience to wait on His perfect timing. We must not give up during the trials and tribulations because the Lord will give us the strength to overcome. As we trust in Him, we will see the manifestation of the life vision he has given us. Waiting on God’s timing ensures the best outcome. When we labor unto the Lord, it’s never in vain.
For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay. Habakkuk 2:3 (ESV)
