What is Bible Poetry?
There are books in the Bible, which are filled with creative writing. These poetic portions of the Bible are mainly found in the Old Testastment especially popular in the book of Psalms. You can find references to some of our favorite poems below, and also poetry books inspired by the scriptures and life experiences.
The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
- Psalm 23:1-3 (NKJV)
God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear,
Even though the earth be removed,
And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
Though its waters roar and be troubled,
Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah
- Psalm 46:1-3 (NKJV)
Bless the Lord, you His angels,
Who excel in strength, who do His word,
Heeding the voice of His word.
Bless the Lord, all you His hosts,
You ministers of His, who do His pleasure.
Bless the Lord, all His works,
In all places of His dominion.
Bless the Lord, O my soul!
- Psalm 103:20-22 (NKJV)
